Synopsis
After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident with a patient, a psychiatrist becomes increasingly convinced that she is threatened by an unusual entity. In the days leading up to the film’s release on September 30, 2022, the actors have been spotted at various baseball games. dead behind home plate and smiling as he stared into the camera, unmoving despite the fans in the stands being understandably concerned, wearing Smile shirts. About 31 minutes in, Rose breaks the glass when the alarm goes off.
Rose Cotter: What are you?
When the glass is shown on her feet, she is wearing stockings. Seconds later, as he checks the door, he’s wearing lace-up shoes. Based on what happens later in the party, there are a few continuity issues that may not be "bugs" but it may actually be intentional to display "interruptions" in Rose’s consciousness/mind. Why are you doing this to me?
Monstrosity: Because your mind is so attractive
Paramount’s opening and closing logos feature a curved line in the shape of a smile at the base of a mountain. He stars in Chris Stuckmann’s The Smile (2022). Lollipop Written by Beverley Ross & Julius Dixon performed by The Chordettes. Sosie Bacon plays an incompetent therapist who mutters phrases and claims to be doing nothing at all while bad things happen to her patients.
It’s silly nonsense, but it’s brilliantly executed
After proving her inability to administer basic first aid to anyone within a fifty mile radius, she caught a case of the ghost. The ghosts then follow her around, all creepy and not doing much, perhaps as ironic mockery. None of the characters, supernatural or otherwise, seem to be good at their jobs. Decent acting, good camera, solid editing and engaging direction.
It’s worth watching once, just for fun
It’s a good time, despite the stupid characters, copy-paste writing, terrible dialogue, and endless clichés. It’s a fun and occasionally effective mushy jump-horror – highly polished shit that’s so shiny you stop smelling it.
