Gary Oldman was originally rumored to be cast, but was replaced by Kevin Kline
Synopsis
It follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a television documentary journalist whose work has been built on exposing the transgressions of long-respected institutions. In several episodes, Jonathon uses the same lens throughout the series, a medium-length telephoto lens.
It could easily have been reduced to a banal two-hour movie
Such a lens would be incapable of focusing on close-up subjects, such as selfies with Sasha or in the bedroom with Catherine. The sex scenes, I would say, are definitely too explicit and strong for a TV series, sometimes even less is enough to understand what is happening.
The story is well told, the characters are well developed and the acting is absolutely exceptional
I am not intolerant, quite the opposite 😉, but I believe that on the visual side sex should always be treated with more lightness, we all know how it works 😂. I approached the series thinking of a thriller, which it has very little in common with, we are faced with a drama.
I still think a film would have been more appropriate
I also like the off-screen speech, it gives a “poetic” and “introspective” touch to the characters directly involved.
